Daniel Negreanu – new GGPoker Brand Ambassador
‘Kid Poker’ as he is also known by, Daniel Negreanu, is a Canadian-born pro poker player, as you might already know. He represented PokerStars up until recently, six months ago to be more exact. And now, he is to be the Brand Ambassador for one of the new kids on the block in the online poker industry, GGPoker.
The deal was announced both by Negreanu and GGPoker on social media, and the pro poker player is to join a small but influential roster of pros and represent the relatively new site.
Negreanu is not the only pro to join the up-and-coming site, he joined Bryn Kennedy to GGPoker and together they are to represent the company in their worldwide promotional efforts.
If you don’t know Daniel Negreanu by now, he is one of the game’s top players, with 6 WSOP bracelets under his belt, as well as many other titles. He is also third on the list of all-time poker winnings, earning over $42 million in tourney winnings. However, Kennedy is ranked even higher, having earned $55 million in his career so far.
Negreanu and Kennedy will be the faces of GGPoker and their promotional efforts around the globe. GGPoker is part of GGNetwork, a company which has known a rapid growth in recent years, earning its place in the top 6 online networks when it comes to traffic.
Daniel Negreanu is to be the GGPoker ambassador following a long collaboration with PokerStars, the largest online poker site in the world. He signed with PokerStars back in 2007 and it has been believed to be the largest sponsorship deal in the history of poker.
Before being the face for PokerStars, Negreanu had ownership in a different US site, called Full Contact Poker. Even though this site still exists, it is only in forum form. Negreanu is still on board, but their collaboration regarding live-poker has ceased a few years ago as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act hit Full Contact Poker.
Full Contact Poker’s decline was prolific for Negreanu, as he joined PokerStars and became one of the most internationally recognized poker pros. And, meanwhile, Negreanu also obtained his US citizenship.
However, GGPoker has but a small fraction of the PokerStars player base, despite their massive growth in recent years. And the financial details regarding Daniel Negreanu’s deals were not disclosed, even though the site immediately started top advertise him as their brand image and use this image in their promotions.
Negreanu said that GGPoker has become one of the important players in the online poker industry, jumping from $3 million in guarantees on their last series to about $50 million the year after. He also added that GGPoker software is capable of responding to players’ needs, from the mobile user-friendly interface to the fun and engaging features. And GGPoker is available to players around the globe, except those in the US.
